2/19/08 Warm up:  What did you do this weekend?  Write a sentence listing 3 things you did.  (Using commas in a series)
Blue Group: Return tests from units A-D; Begin Chapter 1
Green Group: "Rain Forest Creatures" non-fiction excerpt; informational text, text features, headings, captions, glossary; making & using an outline; Intro. pp. 132-134; Reading Selection pp. 135-139; (Follow-up will include pp. 140-143; Activity book pp. 73-80)
Green Group's Homework:
1. Reread "Rain Forest Creatures"
2. Write new vocabulary in your VN. (Include skills vocabulary.)
3. Do Activity book pp. 73, 74, and Q & A from p. 140.
Blue Group's Homework:
1. Reread and study Unit 1. 
2. Do Activity book pp. 76-81.  Test Friday.
Word by Word pp. 46-47 Physical States and Emotions.  Study and do workbook pages. Bring WBW and Visions tomorrow.
Per. 3:  Library to get a book for a book report;  (Everyone must earn 25 points on reading Counts by the end of the trimester, March 21st.)

 
2/20/08 Warm up: Read aloud: How Are You Peeling? Foods with Moods by Saxton Freyman and Joost Elfers; Homework: make 4 word wheels with proud, excited, frustrated, and embarrassed .

Blue Group:   Correct Activity book. pp. 76-81. Review skills. 
Homework: Activity book 82-87; Student book p. 106 Q & A # 1-4 and 1-2.   Unit 1 test Friday. 
Bring your vocabulary notebook and a glue stick tomorrow
 (so we can make 26 sections for your Vocabulary notebook). 
Green Group:  Vocabulary review; Partner reading; Stamp & correct homework.

2/21/08 Whole class:  1. Reread aloud: How Are You Peeling?  Discuss fruits & vegetables used & review emotions.  2. Review WBW pp. 46-47 with transparencies.  Oral practice using present and present continuous verb tense; vocab. review.  Quiz later today on p. 46.
Groupwork:
   Blue: Use 1" hole punch to make A-Z sections in your Vocabulary notebook. Start from the back, using 2 pages for each letter.  (Put X and Y on one tab.) Choose 7 words from the IDEA Picture Dictionary from the A section.  Write the word, definition, and sentence in your "A" section.
Green: Homework check: 4 Word Wheels, Activity book pp. 75-78; Outline.
Correct homework.  Choose non-fiction animal book or magazine in order to research, plan, and write an informational report.
Green Homework: 
1. Grammar pp. 40-43;
2. Pie charts & maps p. 143 text/80 activity book.
3. Read about your animal and take notes. (Write key words only.  Use note cards or separate paper for different topics.)
Per. 3: WBW quiz on Emotions p. 46; game/vocabulary card time in mixed language groups for those who did yesterday's homework.  Quiz on WBW p. 47 tomorrow.
