Include: a) what happened b) how you felt at the time c) how you feel differently about it now Pair assess. If all elements of prompt are addressed, turn it in. Otherwise, redo & turn it in tomorrow. Check & continue work on character sketches (poster is due June 2nd). HOMEWORK: 1. Check the numbers on your books and tell me tomorrow: TCI and Visions. 2. Some students need to redo/revise the writing assignment from Thurs. 3. Do the second character sketch; gather info. on 2 locations to prepare for the writing. |

| 5/29/08 | Final test on Sign of the Chrysanthemum (vocab., reading content literary devices) "Where's My Partner Game" with riddles "Bodacious Beginnings": activity to hook the reader. With members of your group, choose 5 of the 10 story ideas and talk about an interesting way to start the writing. Homework: 1. Do 5 items from the front side of the worksheet. Bring the worksheet with you tomorrow to share your ideas with your group. 2. Bring your ISN and all of your Sign of the Chrysanthemum materials; we may work on either tomorrow. |
| 5/30/08 | 1. If Stacy has returned today, she needs a make-up test (in folder). Find a quiet place for her to sit. 2. Collect homework to stamp and record. (I was going to have them finish this activity in groups. However, their Sign of the Chrysanthemum poster is due Monday. Do they need class time to write about their characters and locations? If so, let's give it to them. Students have a copy of the project guide, character sketch worksheet, and location worksheet. (Teacher copies in folder). If students use the text from the book, they need to use quotation marks and give the page number in parentheses. Remind them it's due Monday on poster board, neat, colored. (Even if they are ill, they need to get it to school on Monday.) Monday turn in the question and answer packet also. 3. If students do not need time for their poster: TCI (History Alive) Ch. 16, "Political Development of Imperial China" (study guides are in the folder). Preview lesson; examine headings, illustration; teach vocabulary. Other optional work: 4. Bodacious Beginnings" , continued. (Who remembers what literary device is used in this title? Alliteration) Do the back side as indicated on the worksheet. |
