GATE and APAAS Parents:

     The next GATE Community Advisory Committee (CAC) Meeting is on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the Board Room at the IUSD District Office Admin. Center, 5050 Barranca Pkwy. in Irvine.  The Presenter is Ed Zaccaro and his topic is Math for Gifted Students.  Ed is author of the Challenge Math series--this was voted as a "Must-Have Math Books for Hip and Happening Teachers," by Amazon. In order to offset the belief that math is often taught as "all scales and no music," Ed's approach helps students to find the joy in learning mathematical concepts.  Please do attend this discussion by one of the leading scholars in gifted education.

     As announced in the January GATER Newsletter, Ed Zaccaro, author of several math books, will be coming to Irvine from Dubuque Iowa. Mr. Zaccaro  has been involved with education for over thirty years with a focus on mathematically gifted students. Join us on January 29, 6:30-8:30, at the District Office as Ed Zaccaro works with Irvine's parents of gifted students to help add more of the challenging depth of thought with math.
