NHD is a national contest in which students will research a topic based on the yearly theme the National History Day organization decides. 7th graders concentrate on Ancient World topics and the 8th graders can research US and post industrial revolution World History. |
The final due date for the entire project is in December before students leave for Winter Break. The school wide competition is held in January for a week when students return. |

NHD proposal and contract (Sails or Anchors) signed by parents and turned in |
Students will get a form that they will use to describe what their topic will be. The contract is to be read and students decide with parent approval if they will do the long term project alone or in a group (no more than 2 for the research paper) |
Student should be gathering information and sources to determine their topic. Students are required to keep track of all their sources with a MLA formatted bibliography, which will also be annotated before handing in the final draft in December. |
