Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to the beginning of an exciting new school year. I am pleased that you are a part of my class this year and I hope that this year is challenging, fun, and intellectually stimulating. In order to make this year a productive one, there are a few requirements for this class that you must be aware of. Please review this information together and call, write a note, or email me if you have any questions or comments. Also, please sign on the space provided below, return that portion of this letter to me tomorrow, and keep the remainder as a reference.

***If a student does not complete homework or classwork,
they might also be required to stay in for snack and/or the last 20 minutes of
lunch until their work is complete.
CLASSROOM PRIVILEDGES, REWARDS & POLICIES
1. Work is
expected to be returned completed on the day that it is due. Each
day students can earn 2 pts/day for having all of the homework
out and complete and for having materials. If homework and materials are not out when homework is checked, a student
will receive a 0 for that day. If students wish they may come show me
their late work during snack or between class periods. At that time it
will then be given one point.
When work is being collected, if it isn’t out to be turned in when it
is being collected, it will be considered late and receive up to a 10% deduction
in grade. No late work will be accepted after it is a week late. Assignments that are more than a week late
will be given a 0.
There is no extra credit in my class.
2. Students who have caught up on all of their work on at the end of a unit will be rewarded with a fun end of unit activity Those students who haven’t caught up on all late work will have study hall during the activity, this is the only time they will be allowed to earn any points back on missing assignments. If they are able to complete the assignment during that time, they will be able to earn up to 75% credit for those assignments. If it was work that was due during that week, the standard 10% deduction will apply.
3. During class time students are expected to stay in the room. They should use the restroom and have gone to their lockers before or after class. If an emergency arises, they may be required to make up the missed class time during snack or at the end of lunch.
4. Students may have water bottles in class. Except for special occasions, all other food, candy, gum, and drinks should be consumed outside of the classroom.
5. Students will only be given one copy of each assignment. If the assignment is lost or destroyed, they are responsible for regenerating that assignment sheet themselves. I make every attempt to put all paper assignments on my web page, but that is a courtesy. If a student losses or damages an assignment regenerating it is their responsibility.
