Rubric For Assessing The Analytical Thinking Process of
ERROR ANALYSIS

ERROR ANALYSIS involves identifying and describing specific types of errors in information or processes and how to correct them. It includes three criteria that can be assessed:
a. Accurately identifying and stating significant errors in information or processes.
b. Accurately describing the effects of the errors on the information or processes.
c. Effectively describing how to correct the errors in information or processes.

4 a. I accurately identified all errors in the information or process under study and made clear why they are errors. I also identified less obvious errors.
b. I provided an accurate analysis of the effects of the errors, including a complete description of the consequences of the errors beyond.
c. I provided a highly thoughtful or creative approach for correcting the errors.

3 a. I accurately identified all critical errors in the information or process and made clear why they are errors.
b. I provided an accurate analysis of the effects of the errors, omitting few details.
c. I provided a workable way of correcting the errors. My response deals with the major concerns created by the errors.

2 a. I accurately identified only some important errors. I included some points that are not errors.
b. I provided an analysis of the effects of the errors but omitted some important consequences; or I did not describe all the effects of the errors.
c. I provided an approach for correcting the errors that deals with some of the major errors. It may not be the best or most appropriate response.

1 a. I did not identify significant errors or I mistook valid points for errors.
b. I did not provide an accurate analysis of the effects of the errors, and/or I described effects that do not exist.
c. I did not provide an accurate way to correct the errors.
