Animation Assignment
Because your animations will take some time working out of class, this sketchbook assignment is to complete work on your animations.
MATERIALS:
8 1/2 x 11 white paper (minimum 25 sheets per person)
pencil, eraser
black thin marker or pen
DIRECTIONS:
1) Plan your idea or plot for your animation. Remember to keep it simple. The more actions you show, the more cells you must draw. It takes approximately 8 drawings to equal 1 second of film time.
2) Create a title cell for your animation. You can also animate the title if you wish.
3) Draw the first frame of action in pencil on the first cell. Make sure that you leave a 1 inch frame around your cell where you do not draw. Number each cell in the upper left hand corner in pencil. Make sure your cells are horizontal, not vertical. Make sure the main action is in the center of the page, not on the edges.
4) Place the second cell on top of the first. Draw the next frame of action on the second cell. Check the movement by flipping the page back and forth. If everything works, ink the cell.
5) After 5 cells, have teacher check before going on. You may also film to check for movement and speed.
6) Continue to place each cell on top of the last one drawn until your animation is finished. Make sure you character is staying consistent.
7) Draw a the credits . It should tell who wrote the story, designed the character and animated and filmed the sequence. This may also be animated.
8) Put the cells together with the title cell on top, and the rest in order from 1 to the credits.
9) Put the animation, storyboard, and character design in your folder and turn in for the okay to film.
